Prayer Diary for May

ST ALBRIGHT’S CHURCH, STANWAY.    

MAY PRAYER DIARY.

1st: We pray for residents of Lucy Close. We celebrate the Feast of St Philip and St James, Apostles. We pray for guidance in our own Christian journey and discipleship.

2nd: We pray for residents of Stanway Green. We pray for all in Government and positions of responsibility. We pray for our local Councillors.

3rd: We pray for residents of Stonehouse Drive. We pray for the recently Baptised and those families preparing for Baptism. We pray for those who have recently moved to Stanway, that they will feel welcome.

4th: We pray for residents of Swift Avenue. English Saints and Martyrs of the Reformation Era. We pray for the outreach of all our local churches.

5th: We pray for residents of the Folly. We pray for our King and all members of the Royal Family as they seek to carry out their duties.

6th: We pray for residents of Tollgate Court. We give thanks for our Leadership Team and for our PCC and Church Wardens. May they be given wisdom to carry out their duties faithfully.

7th: We pray for residents of Tydeman Close. We pray for our Bishops, Clergy and Lay Ministers. We pray too for Diocesan and Deanery Synod and the outreach of the Church.

8th: We pray for residents of Valley Close. Feast of Julian of Norwich, Spiritual Writer, c. 1417. We pray for all victims of war, for refugees and relief agencies

9th: We pray for residents of Wesley Sanford Rd. We pray for Mayors and past Mayors of our community and give thanks for their charity work for the city, especially in hospitals and local care homes.

10th: We pray for residents of Wren Close. We give thanks for God’s Creation. We pray for farmers and all who live in our rural communities.

11th: We pray for residents of Stirrup Mews. We pray for God’s blessing on all crops and livestock. We pray for all who work on land and sea, especially those suffering mental and financial problems.

12th: We pray for residents of Weyland Drive. Gregory Dix: Priest, Monk, Scholar; 1952. We pray for our Youth and Alpha Groups and any follow up groups.

13th: We pray for residents of Swallow Tail Glade. We pray for those in our parish preparing for marriage and those whose Banns will be called. May their day and future life be Blessed.

14th: We pray for residents of Haywain. Feast of St Matthias: the Apostle chosen by lots to replace Judas. “I appointed you to bear fruit that will last.” May we work to bear fruit that will last.

15th: We pray for residents of Tollgate Rd. Christian Aid Week. We pray for peace, justice and reconciliation. We pray for all who have experienced racial abuse and discrimination.

16th: We pray for residents of Tyed Croft. Caroline Chisholm, Social Reformer, 1877. We pray for our families, friends and neighbours.

17th: We pray for residents of Turkey Cock Lane. We pray for our outreach Pioneer Ministry Team, for the initiative of Stanwell Hub and the continuation of the ever-popular Community Coffee Mornings. We give thanks for coffee makers, cake makers and flower arrangers.

18th: We pray for residents of Harvest End. We continue to pray for the Environment Group and the Eco Group, aiming to help churches meet carbon reduction.

19th: We pray for residents of Farriers End. Dunstan, Archbishop of Canterbury. Monastic Reformer, 988 a.d. We pray for our groups for young people: Tots, Bright’s, Rise and Shine, Rainbows and Brownies.

20th: We pray for residents of Mayflower Close. Feast of St Ethelbert, King of East Anglia. We give thanks for our beautiful church and for all who have worshipped here over the years.

21st: We pray for residents of Oatfield Close. Helena, Protector of Holy Places, 330 a.d. Patron Saint of Colchester. We pay for our city, for retail, schools, hospitality and wellbeing.

22nd: We pray for residents of Burton Way. We pray for the Ministry of the Actors’ Church Union. We pray for performers, the local theatre and all involved in the entertainment industry.

23rd: We pray for residents of Barley Way. We pray for all who are vulnerable and still unable to return to church. We pray for those on our Prayer list. We pray too for those who have died recently and their families.

24th: We pray for residents of New Farm Rd. John and Charles Wesley, Evangelists and Hymn Writers: 1791&1788. We give thanks for our beautiful hymns, for music to appreciate and performers.

25th: We pray for residents of London Rd. The Venerable Bede: 735a.d. monk, scholar and historian. We pray for all students now sitting public exams which will have bearing on their future.

26th: We pray for those who use Tollgate West. Augustine, first Archbishop of Canterbury: 605a.d. We pray for those preparing for Confirmation

27th: We pray for residents of Reginald Hilham Walk. We pray for those in the medical and caring professions. We pray for those who work in our hospitals, care homes and hospices.

28th: We pray for residents of Harrison Walk. Lanfranc, Archbishop of Canterbury,1089. We pray for those who live and work in Loganberry Lodge.

29th: We pray for Lakelands, especially the school. We pray for teachers, pupils and governors of local schools. We pray for outreach for Messy Church, fun play areas and our own South Aisle play area.

30th: We pray for Oakwood Estate. We pray for Community outreach, for Food Bank—for those who contribute and those who are in need because of the current economic crisis.

31st: We pray for all who visit Stane Park Retail Centre. Visit of Blessed Virgin Mary to her cousin Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist. “My Soul doth magnify the Lord and my Spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.” (Magnificat.)
