Contract signed and Work has begun on the Parish Rooms’

L to R Tony Windsor (Church Warden), John Hennessy, Fr Paul, Mark Polly (Builder)
After almost twenty years of dreaming and waiting the new Parish Rooms (to be known as St Andrew’s Hall) are at last becoming a reality. In the past plans and schemes had been made only, for various reasons, to be abandoned or shelved.
Just over two years ago the PCC took the decision that it was now or never, and after prayerfully committing the project to God went ahead in faith.
We were blessed by God to find a builder who not only understood our needs but was prepared to offer us a fixed price contract to fit out budget. After several delays, mostly to do with and transfers, we were on Sunday August 16th in a position to sign the contract with BuildMarque Ltd and for work to begin.
Obviously there are many people involved in this project, and at the proper time, (when we open St. Andrew’s Hall), they will be duly acknowledged and thanked. However it is only proper to thank three people without whose help we could not have gone ahead. Stephen Field and Christopher Bindloss who’s cooperation and generosity enabled us to obtain the land to ‘square off’ our building and John Hennessy for his invaluable work advising us on the actual contract and documentation.
God willing St Andrew’s Hall will be opened in late March of 2010. In the meantime there may be some inconvenience especially with parking as the building site will not be available. The more able bodied are asked to use the parking at St Mary’s School leaving the parking at the kindergarten for those who need to be closer to the church. Please do not park in Church Lane as this could cause congestion.
Appeal
Please help us find the £15,000 we need to make up the unexpected shortfall.
